Most sites have the right pages. What they do not have is a clear signal about which page is meant to rank for what, so the pages compete with each other instead of ranking.

What On-Page SEO Changes For You

  • Each page targeting one intent instead of three overlapping ones

What Is On-Page SEO?

On-page SEO is everything on the page itself that tells Google what the page is about and who it is for: the title tag, the headings, the copy, the images and the internal links pointing in and out. It is the part of SEO you control completely, and on most small business sites it is where the quickest wins are.

Most sites have the right pages. What they do not have is a clear signal about which page is meant to rank for which search, so the pages compete with each other instead of ranking. Fixing that is the core of my on-page SEO service.

What My On-Page SEO Service Includes

  • Keyword mapping. Every important search is assigned to one page, so two pages never fight over the same term.
  • Title tags and meta descriptions written for the search and for the click, not stuffed with keywords.
  • Heading structure that follows the questions your customers actually ask.
  • Content gaps. Service pages too thin to rank get the detail buyers look for.
  • Internal linking rebuilt so authority flows to the pages that bring in enquiries.
  • Image and schema basics: descriptive alt text, sensible file names and the structured data each page type needs.

Keyword Cannibalisation: The Problem Most Sites Have

When two or three pages target the same search, Google picks one, often the wrong one, and the others drag it down. It is the most common fault I find in audits, and it usually comes from years of pages being added one at a time. Pages are merged, retargeted or redirected so each one has a single job.

In one case study, resolving those conflicts before adding any new content took a site to 2.39 million impressions and 13,500 clicks in twelve months.

How On-Page SEO Works With Technical And Local SEO

On-page work only pays off if Google can crawl and index the pages, which is why it usually follows a technical SEO audit. For businesses that serve an area, it pairs with local SEO so service pages and location pages support each other instead of overlapping. Where the words themselves are the problem, SEO content writing or copywriting takes over.

Who On-Page SEO Is For

Small businesses with an existing site that gets some traffic but not the enquiries it should: electricians and plumbers, law firms, clinics and service businesses worldwide, including Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.

How My On-Page SEO Process Works

  1. 01

    Crawl and classify

Every URL pulled, categorised by page type and intent, and checked against what it currently ranks for.

  2. 02

    Find the overlaps

Where two pages chase the same search, one wins and one is chosen deliberately, usually by merging or retargeting.

  3. 03

    Rewrite the signals

Titles, headings and opening copy rewritten so the page states plainly what it is for.

  4. 04

    Rebuild the link paths

Internal links retargeted so no money page sits more than two clicks from the home page and no page is orphaned.

On-Page SEO FAQ

On-Page SEO Questions, Answered

What is the difference between on-page and off-page SEO?

On-page SEO is what you change on your own site: content, headings, title tags and internal links. Off-page SEO is what happens elsewhere: links, mentions and reviews that build your authority. Most small business sites need on-page fixed first, because links pointing at unclear pages are wasted.

Is on-page SEO just adding keywords to pages?

No. Keyword stuffing hurts more than it helps. The work is deciding which page should rank for which search, then making that page the clearest, most useful answer, with the titles, headings and links to back it up.

Will you change my copy?

Where it is needed, and only with your sign-off. Some pages need a new title and a better heading. Others need rewriting. You see every change before it goes live.

How many pages does on-page SEO cover?

It depends on the site. I start with the pages that bring in enquiries, usually the home page, service pages and location pages, and work outward from there.

How long does on-page SEO take to work?

Changes to titles, headings and internal links are often picked up within weeks once Google recrawls the pages. Bigger gains from resolving keyword cannibalisation and expanding thin pages usually build over a few months.
