What Is Off-Page SEO?

Off-page SEO is everything that happens away from your site that affects how much search engines trust it: links from other websites, brand mentions, citations in directories and reviews. Done properly, it is the difference between a technically perfect site and one that actually ranks.

Off-page work has a bad reputation because most of it deserves one. Bought links, private blog networks and “500 backlinks for $99” packages can do real damage.

What My Off-Page SEO Service Includes

  • Backlink audit: what is pointing at you now, what helps, and what is actively harmful.
  • Cleanup and disavowal of spam links left behind by previous campaigns.
  • Citation building in the directories that matter for your market and industry.
  • Earned links from suppliers, associations, local organisations, industry publications and content worth citing.
  • Digital PR angles drawn from your real work, data and expertise.

I do not buy links and I do not sell link counts. A handful of relevant links from sources your customers would recognise is worth more than hundreds from sites nobody visits. The work is slower and the numbers are smaller, and it does not get you penalised.

Cleanup Comes First

If a previous agency ran a volume campaign, the first job is usually removal rather than acquisition. I audit what is pointing at you, identify what is actively harmful and clean it up before adding anything new.

How Off-Page SEO Fits In

Links pointed at unclear or unindexed pages are wasted, so off-page work follows technical SEO and on-page SEO. For local businesses, citations and reviews are part of local SEO, and good SEO content is what makes links possible to earn in the first place.

How My Off-Page SEO Process Works

  1. 01

    Audit what exists

Including the damage. Previous link-building campaigns often need cleaning up before anything new is worth doing.

  2. 02

    Map the gap

Where do the sites outranking you get cited from, and which of those are realistically reachable.

  3. 03

    Earn placements

Industry directories, associations, suppliers, local press, and genuine editorial. Slower than buying links, and it lasts.

  4. 04

    Report plainly

What was placed, where, and what it is worth. No vanity counts of nofollow blog comments.

Off-Page SEO FAQ

Off-Page SEO Questions, Answered

What is the difference between on-page and off-page SEO?

On-page SEO is what you change on your own website. Off-page SEO is what happens elsewhere, mainly links, mentions, citations and reviews, which tells search engines that other people trust you.

Do you buy backlinks?

No. Paid links break Google's guidelines and are a common reason sites lose rankings. Every link I build is earned from a real, relevant source.

How many backlinks will I get?

I do not promise a number, because a number is the wrong target. A few relevant links from respected sources in your industry or area outperform hundreds of irrelevant ones.

We were burned by a link building agency before. Can you fix it?

Usually, yes. The audit identifies harmful links, and I clean up or disavow them before adding anything new.

Is off-page SEO necessary for a small local business?

For most local businesses, citations and reviews matter more than traditional link building. Competitive markets and national searches need more. The free SEO audit tells you which you are.
